Guide
Fantasy Points Calculator Guide
Use this guide to understand how football and basketball fantasy scores are calculated, how presets differ, and when custom scoring is the better choice for your league.
What This Calculator Does
This fantasy points calculator estimates fantasy scores from player box-score stats. Football mode supports passing, rushing, receiving, turnovers, and 2-point conversions. Basketball mode supports NBA-style fantasy points from points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, and turnovers.
You can use it as a fantasy football points calculator, fantasy basketball points calculator, NBA fantasy point calculator, or general fantasy score calculator when you know the stat line and scoring format.
Scoring rules vary by platform and private league. Use the closest preset for a quick estimate, or choose Custom scoring when your league uses different weights.
How Fantasy Points Are Calculated
Fantasy points are calculated by multiplying each stat by the scoring value in the selected preset, then adding the results together. Positive categories add points, while penalties such as interceptions, fumbles, or turnovers subtract points when the preset uses negative values.
Total = sum(stat x scoring value) Football Scoring Formats Explained
Standard, Half-PPR, and Full PPR mainly differ in how they score receptions. Standard gives 0 points per reception, Half-PPR gives 0.5 points, and Full PPR gives 1 point.
Standard / Non-PPR
Best for leagues where yardage and touchdowns matter, but receptions do not add points by themselves.
Half-PPR
Adds 0.5 points per reception, which helps pass-catching backs, receivers, and tight ends.
Full PPR
Adds 1 point per reception, making target volume more valuable.
Yahoo-style and NFL-style
Use platform-style presets when you want a faster estimate before editing with Custom scoring.
Basketball Fantasy Points Formula
Basketball scoring multiplies each box-score stat by its weight. In the Yahoo-style basketball preset, points are worth 1, rebounds are worth 1.2, assists are worth 1.5, steals and blocks are worth 3, and turnovers are worth -1.
Custom scoring lets you adjust those weights if your fantasy basketball or NBA fantasy points league uses a different setup.
Example Calculations
Football example: 250 passing yards, 2 passing TDs, 1 interception, and 20 rushing yards. With Standard scoring, that totals 18 fantasy points. With the Yahoo-style preset, the same line totals 19 because the interception penalty is lighter.
Standard football estimate
18 pts Passing yards, passing TDs, interception penalty, and rushing yards are added together.Basketball example: 28 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals, 1 block, and 3 turnovers. With the Yahoo-style basketball preset, that line totals 54.10 fantasy points.
Yahoo-style basketball estimate
54.10 pts Positive box-score stats are added, then turnover penalties are subtracted. How to Use
